I preach because I believe it, not because I perform it. The aim is that someone leaves understanding the text better than when they arrived — not that they remember the speaker.

Preaching and leading are the same work to me, which is why they sit on one page rather than two. Standing in front of people and saying what is true is only half of it; the other half is what happens afterwards — whether anyone knows where they are going, and whether they were helped to get there. A sermon that changes nothing on Monday was entertainment.

So the ministry and the leadership are not separate roles I switch between. Faith is the frame the direction comes from, and direction is what faith looks like once it has to survive a working week.

Disciple
Impact a person and the influence widens on its own. I would rather disciple a few who carry it further than address many who carry nothing away.

Discipline
Lead people into a life shaped by the disciplines Christ himself kept. Belief that never becomes practice stays an opinion.

Destiny
Hand the momentum on. What is built should outlive the builder, carried by a generation prepared for it long before they needed it.
